How it works....
It's still early days and you won't see much content just yet; but with time we plan to develop our niche in the Web to further the aims of the group and for our members and wider audience to enjoy.
The principal features of the site you will find at present are:

  • a 'one-stop' Home page where a visitor can see what's new at a glance. We have adopted a news and features approach to keep our content current and dynamic. This will encourage you to check back for updates.
  • two menu systems to find what you want quickly and easily in the way you prefer. The drop down javascript menu runs along the top of every page and makes it possible to reach any part of the site with a minimum of clicks. The left-hand side menu has been included for those who prefer it.
  • the Calendar is a part of the site you can use to find out when forthcoming events are scheduled. Each entry provides a link for further details.
  • go to the Contact Us page for links to a feedback form and an email registration form. Alternatively, you can contact any member of the committee directly using a link to their webmail address.

The aims of the website....
So what do a bunch of old rustic villagers want with 'one of them new-fangled websites'? Well, that's just it - we're neither technophobic nor xenophobic. Some of us can work a pole-lathe; some can turn out charcoal at an impressively consistent quality while others can weave a little javascript. There are accomplished photographers among us, and those who contribute accountancy, creativity, ecological knowledge and organisational skills. We are a team - and as such believe in the value of teamwork to achieved shared goals.
By putting the Tottington Woodlanders on-line we want to expand on that sense of teamwork. We want to attract more people to participate in what we do and share our enthusiasm. We want to share our experiences with other community woodland projects; provide a forum for woodland issues and contribute a resource for education and enjoyment. We also want to open our ears to any advice offered as well as extend a warm welcome for any would be volunteers.

Plans for the future....
With the initial functional structure in place, it's time to consolidate the content. So we will be adding further features for your enjoyment.
We will also aim to deliver the following enhancements in the near future:

  • a site search facility
  • search engine submission
  • a hit counter
  • photo competition gallery
  • discussion forum
