This is charcoal as it should be: made a few hundred yards from where the wood grew, in our own kiln, by the volunteers who cut it. It lights easily without firelighters, burns hot and clean, and has none of the additives found in mass-market briquettes.
Buying it does two good things at once. It supports the coppicing that keeps the wood full of bluebells and butterflies, and it saves charcoal being shipped across the world when it can be made in a Sussex wood.
